W. D. Gann's Permanent Master 12 Chart For Wheat

Neil A. Costa

In Volume 3, Number 5, Billy Jones stated, “W. D. Gann developed several MASTER CHARTS which had amazing forecasting ability. These include the MASTER 12 CHART, THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE PERMANENT CHART, THE MASTER 9 CHART, SIX SQUARES OF NINE, THE MASTER 360 and THE SQUARE OF THE CIRCLE.”

Master 12 Chart for Wheat

Above is the ‘Master 12 Chart for Wheat’ that Billy used, which I have updated until 2009. You can see that this Chart can be used indefinitely – it is simply a matter of adding more columns to the right hand side, inserting the numbers following the number sequence, and extending the diagonal lines to the right hand edge.

Remember, the years across the top of the MASTER CHART are usually associated with market tops and the years across at the centre would usually be associated with the Wheat market bottoms. The chart is the Permanent Master 12 Chart, so we commence a second series of 12 columns. You will note that a completed square contains 144 squares.

Gann Analyst of CBT Spot Wheat

(A GannAnalyst quarterly chart of CBT Spot Wheat – 1959 to 2004.)

Let us examine Wheat’s significant tops and bottom from 1959 to present, noting how the years fall on the ‘Master 12 Chart for Wheat’:

Low – September 1968 – On centre line.
High – February 1974 – On bottom line.
Low – August 1977 – On ¼ line.
High – October 1980 – On center line.
Low – June 1986 – On bottom line.
High – Jan 1989 – On ¼ line.
Low – November 1990 – Not on quarter increment.
High – February 1992 – On center line.
Low – June 1993 – Not on quarter increment.
High – March 1996 – Not on quarter increment.
Low – December 1999 – Not on quarter increment.

As you can see, the years of many tops and bottoms fell on significant lines on the ‘Master12 Chart for Wheat’.  Some did not.

If you wish to investigate Wheat more fully, there is an abundance of Wheat data in Mr. Gann’s excellent book How to Make Profits in Commodities (from 1841 to 1941) on pages 97 to 100 under the heading ‘Great Swings in Wheat’. Wheat swings can be seen in the form of swing charts from pages 354 to 357. How to Make Profits in Commodities is a very important book for serious Gann students. It can be obtained from http://www.wdgann.com/ .

It is vitally important that you remember the advice regularly given by Mr. Gann when he told us to “use all of the rules, all of the time”. The ‘Master 12 Chart for Wheat’ is NOT the Holy Grail. It is but one very useful weapon in Mr. Gann’s powerful arsenal. If used with his other powerful tools, including the Lambert-Gann Educator’s ‘Natural Squares Calculator’, a high probability forecast can be made. (Please see The New W. D. Gann Technical Review, Volume 1, Number 11, ‘Practical Application of an Authentic Square of Nine’ – Part One by Ken Gerber, as an excellent example of another highly effective forecasting tool that can be used in conjunction with the ‘Master 12 Chart’ for forecasting markets.

I hasten to add, that while all of these tools can be very powerful, none give the roadmap which can be achieved by correctly applying Mr. Gann’s Master Time Factor, as is taught during ‘The W. D. Gann Experience Seminar’.
